About Us

Our History

In 2002, the founders of Animal ER of University Park recognized the need for a comprehensive and compassionate veterinary emergency care hospital to serve both Manatee and north Sarasota counties where none existed. Since then, we have been open every night, weekend, and holiday. We are proud to work closely with the Canine Units of both Manatee and Sarasota counties, along with a multitude of animal rescue groups.

A State-of-the-Art Facility

Animal ER consists of a reception area, 4 examination rooms (2 for cats, and 2 for dogs), a large combined treatment/pharmacy/critical patient area, a wardroom consisting of 6 large runs, and a multitude of smaller kennels. In addition, our surgical suite has a fully stocked laboratory, radiology suite, and a separate isolation ward.

Pets We Serve

Common Household Pets: Dogs, Cats

We can intake wildlife for local rehabilitation organizations. Exceptions are fox, raccoons, and coyotes.

Patients are seen on a "first-come, first-serve basis" with more critical patients receiving priority care. We do not take appointments. However, a phone call prior to the visit is recommended as well as highly appreciated.
