About Us

The Animal ER of University Park is a well-equipped 24/7/365 animal hospital with diagnostic, surgical, and life-saving equipment. We are staffed by veterinarians and licensed or highly experienced veterinary technicians who work specific shifts in order to provide continuous care for all patients.

Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis with more serious and critical patients receiving priority care. We do not take appointments; however, we encourage calling ahead if your pet requires serious medical attention so that we can prepare for

your arrival.

Our history: In 2002, the founders of Animal ER of University Park recognized the need for comprehensive and compassionate veterinary emergency care hospital to serve both Manatee and north Sarasota counties. We have been open every night, weekend, and holiday since that time and now are pleased to offer 24 hours of care, 7 days a week.

We are proud to work closely with the Canine Units of both Manatee and Sarasota counties, along with a multitude of animal rescue groups.

Our Facilities: Animal ER consists of a reception area, 4 examination rooms (2 for cats, and 2 for dogs), a large combined treatment/pharmacy/critical patient area, a ward room consisting of 6 large runs, and a multitude of smaller kennels. In addition, our surgical suite has a fully stocked laboratory, radiology suite, and a separate isolation ward. As a 24 hour animal emergency facility, we do not provide preventative health care services or products (vaccinations, spays or neuters, tick control products, food sales, or heartworm prevention). These services and products can be obtained from your pet's veterinarian.
