Dr. Lewis was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, grew up in the Tampa Bay Area, and attended the University of Florida for both undergrad and Veterinary School (Go Gators!). After graduating in 2009, she pursued a rotating clinical internship in small animal surgery, internal medicine/cardiology, neurology, and emergency and critical care (her favorite) at California Animal Hospital Veterinary Specialty Group in Los Angeles, CA (now VCA West LA). After a hectic internship year, she decided to stay in Los Angeles for “just one more year” when she met her husband Ethan and stayed in LA for 4 more years, all while practicing predominantly emergency and critical care medicine.
While she and Ethan loved their life in LA, they were both missing “home” so they packed themselves and their 2 Corgis (Stella and Lucas) up and headed back to the Tampa Bay Area. Her professional interests include emergency surgery, metabolic emergencies, and fluid therapy. When not at the hospital, she can be found at the beach, at the pool, or snowboarding back on the West Coast.
